A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM KARLA
Until one has experienced a medical event that leaves your life changed overnight, it is hard to describe what lies thereafter. In my case, the event was an automobile accident that left me with traumatic brain injury, or TBI. Fortunately, I am one of the lucky ones because my life is slowly, but steadily, making great progress and I am so thankful for that. Even so, there are still occasional obstacles and each new day brings a new beginning. Prior to my accident, such a life changing event had never entered my mind. I think it is natural for most young people to feel "almost" invincible. Certainly, that was my case. Writing and playing a guitar since the age of 5, leading a fairly normal "overactive" childhood upbringing, dreaming about and building my music career, left me little time to think about an ensuing medical problem. But after sustaining what I thought were minor injuries in an automobile accident, I quickly learned how unpredictable life can be. On April 6, 2003, my writing and singing career seemed almost stolen as I learned that I indeed did have TBI. But, with the help of doctors, family, and special friends, I'm once again able to start resuming my writing and singing career. Will it be different now? Probably. But will the message of my music still ring true from my soul? You betcha. Although my real strength comes from God, my passion and my wordly strength comes from my music. So, here we go again and I am so very thankful to be sending you this message. The links that I choose now include some links that I never gave a thought to prior to my accident. So I hope you will be understanding as I include what I think are important links about other things; things that matter more than music. My hope and my prayer is that my music may touch your hearts and that together we will each grow to be someone better than we were before. Thank you so much.
